To Cougar Science Olympiad at Billingsville-Cotswold Elementary School
Science Olympiad is an academic club and competition in which students compete in one of 23 events, with a partner or two, against other schools in the region, state, or nation, depending on the level of competition. Up to 15 students can be on one team, which is then ranked based on the placements of each event.
There are two main types of events that students can compete in:
In Study events, teams take a written test focused on a specific science topic (e.g., Adaptations, Pollution). Most events allow students to bring a sheet or binder of notes to use during the exam.
In Build events, teams design and construct a device to complete a task (e.g., a bridge to hold weight, or a k’nex car to travel a set distance). These devices are tested and scored using clear criteria.
Cougar Science Olympiad is a Division A (grades 3-5) Science Olympiad program at Billingsville-Cotswold Elementary School. We currently offer both a Varsity and Junior Varsity team. Starting with the 2025-2026 school year, Billingsville-Cotswold will partner with Eagle STEM Competitions for it’s program, allowing for more personalized coaching.
