The Regional Tournament is This Saturday!

Welcome to

Randolph Science Olympiad!

Science Olympiad is the premier  STEM-Based competition in the United States. This year, Randolph joins Eagle STEM Competitions to offer a brand-new, top-tier team for YOUR students.

What is Science Olympiad?

Science Olympiad is an academic club and competition in which students compete in one of 23 events, with a partner or two, against other schools in the region, state, or nation, depending on the level of competition. Up to 15 students can be on one team, which is then ranked based on the placements of each event.

The Events

There are three main types of events that students can compete in:

Study Events

In Study events, teams take a written test focused on a specific science topic (e.g., Water Quality, Machines). Most events allow students to bring a sheet or binder of notes to use during the exam.

Build Events

In Build events, teams design and construct a device to complete a task (e.g., a tower to hold weight, or a launcher for a set distance). These devices are tested and scored using clear criteria.

Hybrid Events

Some events do not fit into these two categories. Usually, this comes in the form of a combination event, or an event that tests basic scientific principles or skills.

The Tournament

The main tournament this year is the Charlotte Regional Tournament. Click below to see more information about it.

Our Program

This year, for the first time, Eagle STEM Competitions will be partnering with Randolph to create a full Science Olympiad program at the school. Our student coaches including many students from East Mecklenburg High school will be working in small groups with each event, ensuring that every student gets the support they need. Our coaches have years of experience with Science Olympiad, and the majority of them are competitors in similar events on our East Mecklenburg team.
